My name is Selina Boersma and I was born and raised in Lockport, graduating from Lockport Township High School in 1995.  I have resided in Lockport for the past 15 years with my husband, Marty and two sons, a 14-year-old eighth grader and  an 11-year-old homeschooler.

I have been a hairdresser for 20 years. I am a former salon owner and have been a stay-at-home mom for 15 years. Being a homeschool mom of one for 7 years (both were homeschooled for two years during covid), I was a frequent visitor to the White Oak Library and am very familiar with the material, programs and content available (and not available)

to our residents.

I believe the taxpayers deserve someone on the board that will question policies, programs, material and the allocation of taxes that are so often increased.  My first priority to being on the board of Trustees is to get all of the pornography and "comprehensive sex education " material labeled and into an 18 and over section of

Library so that it is not readily available

to children of all ages.

I believe I represent a high majority

of parents in the districts and pledge to listen to the parents and always stand up and do what

I can to protect children from

sexualization and exploitation.

I am Patricia Colella and am excited to be running for the position of White Oak Library Trustee. My family and I have been residents of the White Oak Library District for the past 28 years.

Our first nine years residing in Plainfield

(Lockport Township district) and the last

19 years residing in Lockport.

My husband and I have three daughters and three granddaughters. My youngest daughter and oldest granddaughter are both currently in

high school at Lockport Township High School.

New to the community in 1995, the first thing I did was search out the local library with my 11 and 8-year-old daughters. Back then it really was the place to go for information community events and educational programs

for the kids.

Now, nearly 30 years later, our libraries have evolved to include state-of-the-art buildings and new technologies while still continuing to be

the hub for our community.

As a parent and educator, I can attest to the positive effect the library's programs have had on our children over the years and consider the library an integral part of a community.

My background is with the special needs community. I hold a masters in education, specializing in visual impairments. Most recently, I have been working with the non-speaking community teaching people to communicate using the spell to communicate programs (S2C). In 2017, I founded a nonprofit children's community musical theater and later this year we will be doing our

fourth production.

As a White Oak Library Trustee, I hope to be an asset to the board as they work towards funding and generating programs that encourage community participation.
